And FYI:

Yes, Gavin and I met tonight (again) at the Jeproks party.
Tis a funny experience to see how small the circles are and how often we get to run into one another.
At Locus. At Kearny Street. At Bindlestiff. At friend's parties. And here with the NAATA film fest.
On Gavin? A handsome and charming chap.
On the Jeproks party? It was hosted at Lit, formerly known as POW--the superhero lounge dive on 6th and Mission. Admittably, this is the sketchiest neighborhood in SF. I'm perpetually nervous when driving my car in that neighborhood. When leaving anything of value in my car while parked in that neighborhood. When I actually find parking in that neighborhood. When walking in that neighborhood.(and solicited for cigarettes and booty shaking...true; mind you. I don't make this shit up) And when meeting friends in that neighborhood. I was happy to relax when I finally arrived.
Jeproks is working on some cool stuff and I was pleased to talk with my friends Jane K, Siwarya, Dino, and Oliver re: their various projects and passions. I'm always amazed at how talented, involved, and brilliant my friends are. And how in spite of their brilliance, amazing spirits, and indomitable ideals that they bother to let me hang with them.
I am their biggest fans.
And to that degree, I can only hope for some note in their biographies as being a patron of the arts and of their great schemes.
Afterwards bounced yon to the Directions in Sound show at Cafe Du Nord. The gig was sold out.
Who rocked the hosue?
Clarendon Hills (OAK), Julie Plug (SF), Dengue Fever (LA), Dealership (OAK) and Polysics (Japan).
Yours trully got kicked out.
No seriously.
I got kicked out of Du Nord for accidentallly taking photos with flash of the Polysics.
I'm a bastard. Or a fool. Possibly both. Because of the following.
a) I didn't know about Polysics request re: no flash photography. Until too late
b) My digicam has a light meter that when taking no flash photography, apparently confuses the bar staff on the notion and definition.
c) When toggling between camera settings, the no flash function was toggled off and pix with the flash went off.
d) I (politely) declined to leave my camera (more in value than my monthly rent--mind you) with the bar staff and decided to take a powder outside instead.
What'd you do in that situation?
Yeah the flash gestapo was being a prick to me but hey, that is I presume, his job.
Moi; astute and perceptive as ever; realize that the man kicking me out from Cafe Du Nord is about 5'3 and wearing a leather outfit from 1992 so should realy be considered with care and kindness. Afterall -- he obviously has some deep seated issues to work out. So the notion of kicking a girl out of the party who carries a corporate sponsor badge and has explained said above issues is really some sort of hot manic sexy power play that he'll probably carry in is sheet-sweat-soaked dreams to the next millenium.
Erm. Yeah. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
